Round 2 of the Formula Sim-Racing season saw the Twister drivers travel to Malaysia, Sepang. With Petar Brljak and Andreas Nilsson taking a 1-2 finish, Brljak continued his good form with his first pole of the season. Unfortunately Andreas was unable to make it through to the second part of qualifying and lined up in 12th. Jarl Teien, who is a Twister iRacing driver made his debut in FSR, putting his Obutto GP car in second. Unfortunately his debut race didn’t end well, with the Norwegian unable to avoid a slow backmarker. However, no misfortune hit Petar Brljak who took his second race victory of the season, and Andreas Nilsson was able to finish in 8th. Following the first two rounds, Brljak has a 45 point lead over teammate Andreas Nilsson, and Twister-Racing lead the constructors championship.
The World Series event had a tight field, which saw Muhammed Patel qualifying in a disappointing 15th. Twister-Racing teammate Dimitri De Matos qualified in 7th, while Stephane Rouault placed his Obutto GP car on 3rd. Eduard Mallorqui lined up on pole, in his second WS event. Mallorqui was unable to maintain his lead, and all four Twister machines struggled for top speed, which badly affected Patel who was struggling to make his way through the field. Eduard fell behind the two Precision Motorsport drivers after the first stops, and miss-communication between De Matos and Patel saw the Briton wait at the stops, costing him time. Unfortunately Eduard retired just after the mid way stage, but Stephane closed in on Keithley, but was unable to beat his Precision Motorsport counterpart. De Matos, who battled hard with several cars lost out to Vecchioni near the end, finished in 7th while teammate Patel passed Melim and Gosling in the last stint to salvage 9th. This left the two teams in 2nd and 3rd, with Stephane leading the chasing pack in the championship behind Duuievlar.
The World Championship once again saw Marco Conti unable to race, this time replaced by the Croatian, and World Trophy championship leader Petar Brljak, whom was unable to reach Qualifying 2. Fredrik Nilsson, qualified in fourth, and after getting past Jim Parisis at the start, the three stopping Swede was unable to keep up with the leading two, but fast enough to pull away from the pack. A lonely race for Fredrik saw him finish in third. Petar Brljak, on the other hand had a close race in the back end of the points, but after sustaining damage from Martin Gosbee in the first stint, points seemed difficult. This was further compounded by a slow final stop, but the Croatian put a dogged drive to finish in 12th, just a few seconds off receiving a handful of points. This left Fredrik Nilsson third in the championship and also Twister-Racing third in the constructor’s championship.
The Formula Sim-Racing 2012 season kicked off at Albert Park, Melbourne with the two World Trophy drivers Andreas Nilsson and Petar Brljak taking a 1-2 on the grid. Andreas maintained his lead with Petar and Aalberts following close behind until the first round of stops where Petar leapfrogged Andreas for the lead. The duo both were on the two stop strategy, remained the leading two cars until the finish.
The World Series saw all four drivers make it through to the final part of qualifying, with the Obutto GP drivers Eduard Mallorqui and Stephane Rouault qualifying in third and fourth, with the two Twister-Racing drivers Dimitri De Matos and Muhammed Patel qualifying in seventh and ninth. Off the line, Patel moved up to seventh but Rouault dropped a place, two laps later Mallorqui passed Kalamees for second where he remained for the remainder of the stint. After the first round of stops, De Matos, Mallorqui, Rouault and Patel were fourth to seventh, but with Patel coming under increasing pressure to Puschke, the Britain was leapfrogged at the second stop. With a Kalamees spin, the two Obutto GP drivers and De Matos all moved up a place, but with eight laps to go Patel’s brakes failed dropping him down to eleventh. With Keithley’ brakes also failing, Mallorqui moved up to second, with De Matos in third and Rouault in fourth, leaving Obutto GP leading the constructors and Twister-Racing in third.
With Marco Conti unable to race, Eduard Mallorqui stepped in to replace the Italian, unfortunately the Spaniard was unable to make the final part of qualifying, but teammate Fredrik Nilsson put his Twister machine on fourth. Off the line Fredrik was unable to make any progression up the field, but Eduard made his way up to 8th. With Vandoorne holding up Huis and Fredrik, Morand was able to pull out a gap, and on lap 10 after Huis passed Vandoorne, Fredrik followed him through but contact between the pair cost Fredrik valuable time, meanwhile teammate Eduard was up to 6th. A mistake from the Swede prior to his stop put more damage to his car, and a long stop dropped Fredrik to 10th. By the midway stage of the race, Eduard’s sterling drive through the field saw the Spaniard up in 4th, but Greco’s two stop strategy effectively put the Spaniard in 5th. Once the second round of pit stops were completed, Fredrik found himself in 6th, and with both Twister drivers on a three stop strategy, Fredrik quickly caught up to the back of his teammate, and then he passed Eduard for 5th in turn 1 of the final lap, however later on in the lap a brake faliure for Fredrik resulted in the two drivers swapping positions again.
